Drawings!

I did a few drawing in the Applied learning week. I covered a few drawings method, including detailed drawing, quick sketch and acrylic drawing. Let's have a look!

A masking tape.

Items Used: HB pencil, 2B pencil, Eraser, Cutton buds.

Step 1

A quick contour drawing at first, shadow areas were also marked.

Step 2

Draw more precise with the contour, erase the supportive lines. I should be light with the supportive lines or use more light pencil like HB or 2H, it might be a trouble when I try to erase them.

Step 3

Shading with 2B pencil.

Step 4

Smudge by using a cotton bud. I found out that napkin could not be precise when it smudges. A cotton bud was better in small areas.

Step 5

Enhancing some dark areas.

Step 6

It is the final work. A problem is that I should not be heavy with the supportive lines, it left marks when I tried to erase them. Be careful next time.

Two bags.

Items Used: HB pencil, 2B pencil, Eraser, Napkin.

Step 1

Roughly drawing with the contour.

Step 2

Be more precise with the contour.

Step 3

Shading the shadow areas.

Step 4

Smudging with a napkin, it works good with some large area. But it would make the whole drawing grey. I realize I was too heavy with the contour lines when I look back. This bad habit needs to be fixed.

An adhesive hook.

Items Used: HB pencil, 2B pencil, Eraser, Cotton buds.

Step 1

Supportive lines were used to find the right proportion.

Step 2

Be more specific with the contour. Shadow areas were also marked.

Step 3

Enhancing the contour lines, shading the shadow ares.

Step 4

Smudging with a cotton bud, I found that I could create a shade by using smudged cotton bud. The shadow it created is light and natural.

Step 5

I should be lighter with the contour lines. I found a problem when I was smudging, the contour line was too heavy and darken the surroundings. It was really hard to clean with an eraser. Heavy contour lines would cause troubles!

I also found that there are so many details on the light of metal hook, which was pretty hard to grab and draw.

A look from runway.

Items Used: HB pencil.

I did two 10mins quick sketches, I found that I could create layers if I start with light drawing and heavy with the contour of garments and model. I couldn't get the precise proportion in a short time, I need to practice that ability. Maybe I need to learn the proportion of human body in order to draw better.

A laptop charger.

Items Used: HB pencil, 2B pencil, 4B pencil, Eraser, Cotton buds.

Step 1

Roughly draw the contour lines, charger is actually a rectangle.

Step 2

Lightly Draw the precise lines of the contour and shadow area.

Step 3 - 4

Shading the background, smudging with a napkin.

Step 5

Erase the object. In this step, I felt like I was drawing by an eraser.

Step 6

Create layers by Enhancing the background, the shade on the object should be lighter than the background.

Step 7

Smudging and erasing the highlight area. Through this drawing, I found that sometimes the eraser could be the actual 'pen'.

An air pod.

Items Used: HB pencil, 2B pencil, Eraser, Cotton buds.

Step 1

Roughly draw the contour with supportive lines.

Step 2

To be more precise with the contour and shading the shadow.

Step 3

Erase the heavy lines.

Step 4 - 6

Shading and smudging. HB pencil was used to create light shades.

Step 7 - 8

Smudging the shades make it looks more natural. I found that the texture of the chair was quite hard to draw, especially the sink dots of the chair. Maybe I need to use the shading / shadow to depict that uneven surface.

It a picture I took in the Preston Road station. I really like the color tone of this picture. I tried to draw this picture by using acrylic.

Step 1

I used the blue tone black to draw the shape of the house.

Step 2 - 3

The sky was mixed with light and dark blue. I found that the transition area of light blue to dark blue is quite hard to draw. There were obvious difference of color if I draw with 2 colors, maybe I need to add more colors in the transition part to let it looks more natural.

Step 4 - 5

The shade of tress should be black with a little bit of blue. I didn’t have the brush that was tiny enough to draw the tree branches, I drew the contour of the tree by using a thick brush, I made a few adjustion after that.

Thank you!
